RSPCA Cambridge: Vintage/Retro Boutique

The old shop at 184 Mill Road has now closed, but we will be re-opening — bigger and better — at a more central Cambridge location in 2009. Keep checking this page for more news. In the meantime, you can visit our bookshop at 188 Mill Road, or our general charity shop in Newmarket at 156, the High Street.

Please note: all "fur-type" materials sold by our shops are "faux". We do not sell any real fur items, as we believe that even secondhand fur sales are unethical as they may tend to encourage the trade in new fur, which causes suffering and death to animals.

You can watch a video clip of the Stella McCartney Second Life virtual anti fur protest on her website (click on the white horse on the carousel of videos).

We need volunteers

We are looking for motivated people with an interest in design and fashion to volunteer in the shop for half a day or more, either weekly or fortnightly. This is an excellent way to learn more about the history of design and what is actually involved in running a retail fashion operation: including online selling, customer care, displays etc. Although we are a charity shop, this does not mean "amateurish" — like any commercial operation we have to make a profit to stay in business.

If you are interested in helping at the shop, email camshop@rspcabookshop.co.uk, or just drop by at 188.
